The history department of Shenyang International School has been undergoing many changes in the previous fews years. We are really excited to offer AP United States History and AP Comparative Government along with the core history classes.Typically, ninth graders enroll in Ancient World History where they study the very first civilization up through the Renaissance. The following year students explore Modern World History where they study the radical changes that the world has undergone post-Renaissance. In eleventh grade, students take a comprehensive look at United States History, where they have the option of pursuing either the AP or Honors track. Additionally, students may choose to study Comparative Government their senior year as a preparation for more advanced college level courses.
About the Teacher
Ms Yurina has been with Shenyang International School since fall semester of 2010. Before coming to China, she taught for one year at a private school in Tacoma, WA. Ms Yurina studied both mathematics and history while in college. She is especially passionate about Middle Eastern studies and human rights. Ms Yurina's vision for all of her students is that they become analytical, globally-minded thinkers who are passionate about the events happening in their communities and abroad. She hopes that her students can learn to appreciate the complex study known as "history" and learn lessons that will impact the decisions they make in their lives.
